Summer Roundup Triathlon
Rufus Racing is excited to announce that the Summer Roundup Triathlon will be moving to a lake just north of Joplin and adding an Olympic distance race as well as hosting the sprint race. The race date for this year is: Sunday June 24, 2012. The sprint event will have a beginner/novice swim wave for all our first time athletes. The Big Time Youth Triathlon will be moved to MSSU's pool and campus on Saturday June 23, 2012. The youth event is for traditional youth 5-14 years of age and a race for youth with autism. More info and new maps will be posted soon.

VolSprint: 500 meter swim/15.3 bike/5k run

Olympic: 1500 meter swim/ 40k bike (24.8 miles)/10k run

Also check out the Big Time Youth Triathlon (ages 5-14 years and youth with autism) which is the day before on Saturday June 23.

Registration:
  • All paid participants receive an invitation to pre-race party(friends and family welcome too) goodie bag, technical t-shirt, and post-race lunch and ice cream
  • NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION
  • Transition opens at 5:30 AM
  • Online registration closes Friday June 22, at noon
  • Mail-in registration must be post-marked by June 18, 2012
  • To guarantee shirt size you must be pre-registered by June 7, 2012
  • Event will be held rain or shine

  • Age Minimums- Sprint race 15 years & up, Olympic Race 16 years & up
  • This is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. You must either be a USAT annual member or purchase a $12 one day pass when registering

  • 8:30 AM- Big Dog 97.9 post-race party starts
  • 9:30 AM- Youth Awards
  • Noon-5 PM- Packet Pickup for Summer Roundup Triathlon location TBA
  • 3 PM- Triathlon 101 clinic
  • 5-7 PM- Pre-race dinner/party @ L.L. Sayer's

Doing your first triathlon? Or just need some help training? Download the free 12 week training plan to get you ready for race day. Starts on Monday April 2, written by Ruth Sawkins (also the Race Director) who is a certified USA Triathlon level 1 coach. Don’t forget to check out the pre-race clinic Saturday at 4PM, free with your race entry. If you need a group to train with or more help check out the Rufus Racing Team
PACKET PICKUP:

  • This is a USAT Sanctioned race – ALL USAT rules apply!
  • All athletes must have a current USAT annual membership card or must purchase a 1-day USAT license for $12. Please show up early and bring a picture ID. If you wish to purchase an annual license you go to www.usatriathlon.org YOU MUST BRING YOUR ID AND USAT MEMBERSHIP CARD TO PACKET PICKUP OR YOU WILL HAVE TO PAY A $12 USAT ONE-DAY LICENSE.

Join us for dinner at L.L. Sayer's 1027 S Main, Joplin, MO in the Gryphon building
5-7 PM on Saturday June 23. Bring your friends and family and visit with other racers and get your pre-race meal
(prices range from $6.50-$20) There will be a buffet set up with several options that will cater to protein focused or carb focused meals. All race participants that purchase dinner will recieve a special schwag item for attending the pre-race party.

Dr_Fly_-modifiedDr Fly’s salon will be at packet pickup and post-race for the Triathlon weekend June 22-24, 2012 to put in your blue hair extension. 100% of funds will go to Ozark Center for Autism ($10 an extension). Guys, they can do yours too they’ll cut it for you. Make a race statement and help fight autism. The Race Director will be sporting one too! You can purchase one when you register for the race
