Hi, my name is Ruth Sawkins!

Where did the name Rufus Racing come from? Rufus has been my nickname since college and when it came time to name by business it felt like the perfect fit. Today you can look anywhere in the four states (and further!) and find people wearing Rufus Racing race shirts and gear or even wearing the Rufus logo as a stamp on their calf when racing! Over 20,000 people (and counting) have attended Rufus Racing events and over 700 have had some level of coaching with us.

How did I get into this? The short and real answer is God prepared me for this, gave me the idea, has blessed my work, and I give Him all the credit! I started racing endurance sports in High School. I’ve done many endurance events-cycling (road and off road) triathlon, running, and adventure racing. In 2009 I wanted to be able to work from home after my husband and I had our first child. Since I had been racing for so long and knew the industry well. I was so excited to start my own event production and coaching company. On January 11, 2009 while sitting on the floor in our living room with my computer in my lap, I used my Christmas money to register my business and buy my DBA- Rufus Racing, LLC. Over the next several years I would continue to grow Rufus Racing through events and the team while adding 2 more children to our family. I’ve continued to race, brand and market events, and coach others. What a wild ride it is! It’s been crazy hard but I’ve loved it and thankful to Jesus for the opportunity to do what I love!
